Queen Anne’s Lace

$85.00$155.00

Queen Anne’s Lace is one of the first flowers I remember as a child. Thousands of tiny blossoms coming together to make one beautiful statement. I was fascinated by the itty-bitty flower clusters. My sisters and I would gather bouquets and have pretend weddings. It grew everywhere around our farm. My dad called it a weed. I called it a bouquet.

Description

One of the many legends of how Queen Anne’s lace got its name refers to it as living lace. Queen Anne II challenged her ladies-in-waiting to make a piece of lace as delicate and lovely as the flower. Many tried, but none could match the beauty of nature.

I found this early blossom along a backroad with a few tiny blooms just beginning to open. Do you see the wire fence? I think it complements the vintage appeal of Queen Anne’s Lace.

Open Edition photographs of Wildflowers, Route 66 and Other Classics and Barns and Buildings allow you to create a nostalgic arrangement. Queen Anne is the perfect addition to a vintage grouping. All Open Editions are signed. Use them as accents or combine with other prints to create a striking ensemble.

Echinacea is derived from the Greek word for hedgehog, referring to the appearance of its spiky center. You often see the blooms hanging down after the first few days of bloom. Their thin petals hold their color while accenting the small orange “hedgehog” center.
