    Jack-in-the-Pulpit is said to look like a Sunday-morning preacher ready to deliver his sermon to any passer-by.

    These plants are often hard to spot because of their subdued colors. Their small stature and desire for shady, damp areas allow them to blend in with the May Apples and other understory growth. I discovered this little guy while hiking in Arkansas’s Prairie Creek State Park. It was hiding from the sun under the shelter of a bluff.
