These plants are often hard to spot because of their subdued colors. Their small stature and desire for shady, damp areas allow them to blend in with the May Apples and other understory growth. I discovered this little guy while hiking in Arkansas’s Prairie Creek State Park. It was hiding from the sun under the shelter of a bluff.

$65.00 – $115.00A colony of Wild Sweet William is a true find. It’s common to find them scattered here and there in woodlands and roadsides, but large groups are more unusual. I found these in an area protected by the Nature Conservancy at Springfield (MO) Conservation Nature Center. At the city’s southeast edge, the Center spreads over an 80-acre tract bordering Lake Springfield. You can find ducks, otters, deer, foxes, and other wildlife, as well as native plants, trees and aquatic plants.
